The Pastor Nominating Committee is pleased to announce that after a lengthy search we
have extended a call to a minister who we feel confident will lead Trinity Presbyterian Church
into a bright future.  Our committee is thankful for your patient support and prayers
throughout the search process.  We feel that we have been led by the Holy Spirit in our
unanimous decision to call Elizabeth Meador to join us in our ministry and mission at Trinity.
We invite you to learn more about Elizabeth by reading her biography, which follows.  This
is truly only a snapshot of Elizabeth and to learn more about our prospective minister, the
Pastor Nominating Committee requests your presence at a “Meet and Greet” Open House on
Saturday, November 9th, from 2:00-5:00pm.  This event will be held in Founder’s Hall and
refreshments will be served.  Please join us in welcoming Elizabeth to Independence and to
Trinity.
The following day, Sunday, November 10th, Elizabeth will be preaching at Trinity, followed
by a Called Congregational Meeting following worship.  We look forward to seeing you at both
events!
Elizabeth Meador was born and raised in Tupelo, Mississippi.  She attended Furman
University in Greenville, South Carolina, where she was active in the Presbyterian (USA)
Westminster Fellowship as well as other ecumenical and interfaith groups on campus.  She also
was involved in the music communities at Furman.  While living in Greenville, she joined
Westminster Presbyterian Church, a congregation of Foothills Presbytery, where she worked
as an intern and provided support for the administration, pastoral care, and youth programs.
After graduating from Furman with a Bachelor of Arts in History and Religion, Ms. Meador
worked briefly as a Finance Coordinator in a national Senate campaign before enrolling as a
student at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, Georgia, where she graduated with a
Master of Divinity in 2011.  While a student, she worked both full and part time at Rock Spring
Presbyterian Church in Atlanta, serving as both general intern as well as the Director of Youth
and Young Adult Ministries.  After graduating, Ms. Meador completed five units of Clinical
Pastoral Education at Emory Center for Pastoral Services in Atlanta, serving as a student
chaplain for over a year in two hospital settings which included surgery, women’s health,
emergency, infant care, geriatric care, and hospice.  While working at Emory, she was assessed
and certified ready to seek a call by Foothills Presbytery in August of 2012.  Ms. Meador
currently resides in Decatur, Georgia.
